Legislation

The Oregon Legislature convenes annually in February at the State Capitol in Salem, but sessions may not exceed 160 days in odd-numbered years and 35 days in even-numbered years. Five-day extensions are allowed by a two-thirds vote in each house. In odd-numbered years, the Legislative Assembly convenes on the second Monday in January, to swear-in newly elected officials, elect legislative leaders, adopt rules, organize and appoint committees, and begin introducing bills.

The Oregon Legislative Assembly convened the 2013 Regular Session on Monday, January 8, 2013.  The 2013 Legislative Assembly gaveled out sine die on Monday, July 8, 2013.  It also met September 30 through October 3, 2013.
